*Netflix Announces Multi-Part Documentary Series on Legendary Allman Brothers Band**

Netflix has officially announced the upcoming release of a **multi-part documentary series** chronicling the life, music, and enduring legacy of the **Allman Brothers Band**, one of America’s most influential and genre-defining rock acts. The untitled series is slated to debut in **fall 2025**, and promises to deliver the most comprehensive look ever produced on the Southern rock pioneers.

Formed in **1969** by brothers **Duane and Gregg Allman**, the Allman Brothers Band fused **blues, jazz, country, and rock** into a distinct sound that would go on to shape an entire genre. With hits like *“Ramblin’ Man,” “Jessica,” “Whipping Post,”* and *“Midnight Rider,”* the group not only dominated the charts but also inspired generations of musicians with their improvisational jams and soulful performances.

According to Netflix, the series will span **six episodes**, each diving into a specific era of the band’s journey—from their tumultuous beginnings in Macon, Georgia, to their meteoric rise in the ’70s, the tragic deaths of Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley, and the band’s enduring influence well into the 21st century.

**Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Thom Zimny**—best known for his work on documentaries about Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley—the series features **never-before-seen footage**, rare behind-the-scenes material, and exclusive interviews with surviving band members, family, road crew, and legendary collaborators such as **Eric Clapton**, **Bonnie Raitt**, and **Derek Trucks**.

Netflix’s Vice President of Music and Cultural Content, Joanna Marks, described the project as *“a tribute to one of America’s most important musical legacies. The Allman Brothers Band didn’t just make music—they told stories of struggle, love, and liberation through their sound.”*

What sets the series apart, according to insiders, is its emotional depth. Special attention is given to the profound bond between Duane and Gregg Allman, and how that brotherhood laid the foundation for the band’s signature chemistry and raw authenticity. The series also explores the group’s role in **integrating Black and white musicians** in the South during a turbulent period in American history—most notably through their collaborations with drummer **Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johanson**.

In a statement, **Devon Allman**, son of Gregg Allman and a musician in his own right, said: *“This series is a dream come true. It captures the magic and the pain, the triumph and tragedy that defined the Allman Brothers Band. Fans old and new will feel the spirit of what made this band a force of nature.”*

In addition to archival content, the series will include a new soundtrack curated by the Allman estate, featuring remastered classics, live cuts, and unreleased studio material that will drop alongside the show’s premiere.

Fans and critics alike are already expressing high anticipation. With Netflix’s growing success in music documentaries—like those on Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash, and Tupac Shakur—*the Allman Brothers Band* series is expected to be a standout entry in the platform’s expanding music catalog.
