**BREAKING NEWS: Martin Truex Jr. and Family Donate Entire \$5.7 Million Bonus and Endorsement Contract to Charities and Homelessness Support Organizations**
In a remarkable act of generosity, NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr. and his family have donated the entirety of his recent \$5.7 million bonus and endorsement earnings to a collection of nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting underprivileged communities, combating homelessness, and promoting health and wellness. The announcement was made early Monday morning through a joint statement issued by the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.
The donation marks one of the largest single charitable contributions by an active professional driver in NASCAR history. Truex, a veteran driver and former Cup Series champion, explained that the decision was made in close collaboration with his family and charitable foundation.
“We’ve been incredibly blessed throughout my racing career,” Truex said. “This sport has given me so much, and I feel it’s our responsibility to give back in ways that create meaningful change. There are too many families out there struggling to find shelter, food, or healthcare. We want to be part of the solution.”
According to the foundation’s press release, the funds will be divided among several national and regional charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Feeding America, Covenant House, and several grassroots organizations working in the areas of transitional housing, addiction recovery, and mental health services. A significant portion is also being earmarked for the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation’s own initiatives, which have long supported cancer research and pediatric care.
Sherry Pollex, Truex’s late longtime partner and co-founder of the foundation, was a driving force behind the couple’s shared passion for philanthropy. Though Pollex tragically passed away in 2023 after a long battle with ovarian cancer, Truex emphasized that this donation honors her legacy.
“Sherry taught me how powerful it is to use your platform to help others,” he said. “This donation is as much a tribute to her spirit as it is a gift to those in need.”
The NASCAR community has widely applauded Truex’s decision. Several fellow drivers, including Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott, took to social media to praise the move, calling it “inspiring” and “a reminder of the good that can come from the sport.”
NASCAR CEO Jim France also released a statement: “Martin Truex Jr. has consistently demonstrated the highest levels of integrity, compassion, and leadership—both on and off the track. This generous act is a testament to his character and values.”
The donation comes at a time when housing insecurity is on the rise in many parts of the United States, particularly among veterans and families with children. Advocates say Truex’s contribution could not be more timely or more impactful.
“This gift will directly translate into warm meals, safe beds, and a renewed sense of hope for thousands of people,” said Anne-Marie Burgess, Executive Director of Hope Haven, a homelessness relief organization based in Charlotte, NC.
Martin Truex Jr. has not announced any retirement plans, but if this marks the twilight of his racing career, many will remember it not only for his success on the track—but for his unwavering dedication to helping others.
